Voltari, A pioneer in marine EV manufacturing, launched the Patrol 26 RIB. A Fort Lauderdale, Florida based company designed this groundbreaking electric patrol boat for government, military, and security agencies. This innovative EV boat is engineered for speed, and precision; designed with zero noise pollution and emissions. Made it a top choice for modern patrol and security operations.
The Patrol 26 RIB’s Cutting-Edge Technology
The Patrol 26 RIB is an exceptional achievement in marine engineering, delivering high-performance capabilities without the noise and emissions typically associated with traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) boats. Its trimmable outdrive, contra-rotating propellers, and dual-prop military-grade drive system enable the vessel to outperform any similarly sized ICE boat, reinforcing its position as the leading choice in the electric patrol boat category.
Cam Heaps, founder and CEO of Voltari, shared that the company recently received an order from a well-known naval defense contractor for two Patrol 26 boats, which will undergo trials for a U.S. Navy security contract in San Diego. These vessels are also being demoed for other U.S. government agencies. Additionally, ISED Canada has secured a Patrol 26 CC variant for delivery to the Canadian Coast Guard in December this year, where it will be tested in the challenging conditions of the Pacific Ocean off the coast of British Columbia.
“We have received significant interest from institutional and government fleet buyers based on our ability to provide operational, fuel, and general maintenance cost savings of around USD 1 million per vessel over 10 years,” said Tim Markou, President of Voltari. As a result, we are not only helping government fleets achieve operational goals but also contributing to a more sustainable future on a global scale.
World’s First fully Electric Patrol Boat
Performance-wise, the Patrol 26 RIB competes directly with ICE-powered counterparts, often surpassing them in key areas such as acceleration, hole shot, and maneuverability. This boat is designed to excel in saltwater and rough-water conditions, meeting military-grade specifications and positioning itself as the world’s first fully electric patrol boat, capable of replacing traditional vessels in a wide range of nearshore applications, including police, security, coast guard, and military roles.
Voltari has engineered the Patrol 26 RIB with a lightweight carbon fiber hull and a 24-degree deadrise deep-V oceangoing design, allowing it to outpace any hydrofoil application in both forward and reverse. For crew comfort during demanding missions, the boat is equipped with shock suspension seating. To enhance situational awareness, particularly in low-light conditions, the vessel comes standard with a fixed-mount FLIR thermal night vision camera. Additionally, the secure dry storage area near the helm is designed to accommodate marine flares and both lethal and nonlethal weapons.
Performance of Patrolling Electric Boat
The Patrol 26 RIB is powered by a peak 550 kW and continuous 425 kW, enabling a top speed of over 55 mph (89 km/h) and a cruise speed of 20-30 mph (32-48 km/h). Its range is impressive, reaching up to 100 miles (161 km) at idle, or 30 miles (48 km) when cruising at 25 mph (40 km/h). Operators seeking additional protection from the elements can opt for the Patrol 26 Pilot, which features climate control and can accommodate up to four passengers comfortably. For enhanced space and movement, the front mounting rear jockey seats can be easily folded up when not in use, optimizing the boat’s versatility.

Voltari is also continuing its innovations with the Patrol 26’s launch following the success of the Voltari 260, which transitioned from pre-order to full production. This vessel made history by completing the first and longest open-ocean journey for an electric vehicle. It crossed the Gulf Stream from Key Largo, Florida, to Bimini, Bahamas, on a single charge, proving the capability and durability of Voltari’s electric technology.
History of Voltari
Last year, the Voltari 260 demonstrated its exceptional capabilities by completing the Gulf Stream journey in less than 20 hours at a steady cruising speed of 5 mph (8 km/h). The journey, which carried only essential crew members, covered a distance of 91 miles (130 km) on a single battery charge. This milestone showcased Voltari’s potential to revolutionize the boat industry as the market transitions to electromobility.
The Voltari 260, marketed as the world’s first fully electric performance boat with zero emissions, boasts 1350 N·m (996 lb·ft) of torque and a top speed of 60 mph (97 km/h) in ocean conditions. The boat is equipped with a 142-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, further cementing Voltari’s position as a leader in marine electromobility.
The Future of Electric Patrol Boats
Voltari’s commitment to innovation and sustainability is reflected in its range of high-performance electric vessels, such as the Patrol 26 RIB and the Voltari 260. These boats provide significant savings in operational and maintenance costs up to $1 million per vessel over 10 years while helping fleets meet their sustainability goals. As electric technology continues to gain momentum in the marine industry, Voltari is leading the charge in delivering cutting-edge solutions for modern-day patrol and security operations.
